Lil Wayne Taking Down MCs With Freestyles?

Lil WayneDJ Scoob Doo offers insight on Lil Wayne's No Ceilings Mixtape, the rapper's early years in the game, and his work ethic and longevity on his DVD titled The Nino Brown Story Pt. 2.

"It's phenomenal to see somebody at 7 o'clock in the morning or 8 o'clock in the morning, after being in the studio a good 10, 12 hours, and still having fun, you're going to see him laughing at himself. He's not listening to anybody tell jokes. He's listening to his own words, he's listening to his own raps, and he's having the best time of his life."

Lil Wayne is recognized as one of the best rappers of his time. He's also noted for his success on freestyling over other artist tracks and is sometimes accused of doing better than the original artist, but Wayne argues using other artist's beats is cheaper and his intentions isn't to outshine the other rapper. He ignores people who say he takes down other artists in the process of freestyling over their beats.

"I don't like to do real songs up there, because the producers be wanting their money. So just do shit that's already out, because it's easier that way, you killed that n*gga on his own song! That's not the intentions, brother. No, I did not kill nobody on their own song. I like the song; that's why I killed it. I didn't kill them. I'm not even rapping like them."

Although Wayne feels he isn't harming the artist, he does admit to murdering the beats that he raps over. Jay-Z's Death of Auto-Tune for example, Wayne stated "I killed their song, though. So, Jay-Z, I'm about to kill your song."
